Whether your interest lies in the sciences or in policy, this interdisciplinary program prepares you for the challenges of a career in the environmental field. As a student of environmental policy, you will examine the development and implementation of public policy responses to environmental issues. You’ll focus special attention on the economic, political and social factors that are an intrinsic part of the policymaking process. If you are more inclined to study the science behind policy issues, we have faculty members who focus on natural science processes from an environmental issues perspective. This side of environmental studies will give you a foundation in how information should be used to assess societal risk and create policy. Your knowledge and experience will come from courses in environmental science as well as laboratory work and field research.
