New Degrees, Programs & Certificates: Preferably earlier, but no later than Monday, August 7, 2023, and BEFORE the new program proposal is submitted in Curriculog, the originator/proposal launcher must e-mail the summary of the proposal along with the budget (per the template already provided by Academic Affairs to the academic deans) to delmastromp@cofc.edu for executive review by the provost, Business Affairs and the president.  Once approved by the executive team, the proposal may be submitted in Curriculog.

Program initiators/launchers must coordinate with the chairs of the Academic Planning and Budget Committees prior to and during the Executive Review step to facilitate timely committee review after submission to Curriculog.

Originators/proposal launchers: Please monitor your proposals in Curriculog to ensure they move through the review steps on time, and contact the respective reviewer (chair/program director, dean, and provost) if/when the proposal sits idle for more than 7 days.

1 This is NOT the proposal's submission date.  After submission in Curriculog, a proposal may take 2-3 weeks before arriving at the Provost's Office.  Therefore, and to avoid delays, the originator should monitor the review steps in Curriculog and contact the respective reviewer (chair/program director, dean, and/or provost) if the active proposal sits at a step for more than 7 days (one week) without action.

28/18/2023: Provost's step deadline for new degrees, programs, and certificates.  New degrees, programs, and certificates require review by Academic Planning and Budget Committees prior to Senate consideration, then approval by the Board of Trustees (mid-October) before the SACSCOC's and CHE's submission deadlines of January 1 and February 1 respectively.  Before launching the proposal in Curriculog, program initiators/launchers must coordinate with the chairs of the Academic Planning and Budget Committees prior to and during the Executive Review step to facilitate timely committee review after submission to Curriculog.

310/20/2023: Provost's step deadline for changes of 50% or more to existing programs to ensure SACSCOC submission deadline by January 1.

412/8/2023: Provost's step deadline for prerequisite/co-requisite-change, credit-hour change requests, placement scores, and course number change for implementation the following fall.

51/26/2024: Provost's step deadline for new course proposals.

62/9/2024: Proposals that do not reach the Provost's Office by 2/9/2024 will not be considered.  All 2023-2024 Undergraduate, Graduate, and General Education Curriculog forms will be deactivated and unavailable for use after 3/1/24.  The new 2024-2025 forms will be activated and ready for use no later than July 1, 2024 (once U and G catalogs are finalized and posted).  Faculty can continue to work on curriculum offline during the period of deactivation.  All graduate proposals that are created on 2023-2024 forms, but do not make the last meeting agenda of the Committee on Graduate Education (2/29/24) must be deleted and restarted in 2024-2025 using the new forms and the new catalog.

IMPORTANT:

  • Changes for programs totaling less than 24% of the total program credits may be approved at the last spring Senate meeting for fall implementation of the same calendar year.
