How to Apply

Application Deadlines

First, you will want to make sure you get your application completed and required documents submitted by the deadline. Application deadlines for international students are:

  • Fall: January 15, priority; March 1, final
  • Spring: July 15, priority; September 1, final
  • Summer: January 15, final

Some programs may have different deadlines or not accept applications in every term.  If the program's deadline is before the international deadline, you should adhere to the earliest deadline.

Applications, fees, and admissions materials will be submitted through our secure online application system.  Any items not uploaded with the online application can be submitted directly to the Graduate School.

Required Documentation

The required documentation for admission for international students includes:

Copy of current US visa (H-type or J-type) or residency card. If you are seeking a student visa (F-1), the process will be handled by the Center for International Education. If you have any questions or need guidance about securing a student visa, please do not hesitate to contact them.

Copy of current, valid passport picture page.

Official copy of undergraduate transcripts.  Non-US transcripts must be evaluated by a credentialing service. There are a variety of credentialing services available, and the Graduate School has partnerships with two online credentialing services to make it as easy as possible for you:

  1. International Education Evaluations, Inc. - Applicants receive a discount for digital delivery and avoid mailing fees.
  2. SpanTran
If you prefer to utilize a mail-in service, other approved credentialing services include:
  1. World Education Services, Inc.
  2. Educational Perspectives
  3. Educational Credential Evaluators
Proof of English Language Proficiency via any of the following methods:
  1. Official test scores from any of the following exams:
  2. Earned a degree from or attended a U.S. university for at least one year

These documents are required by the Graduate School, but each program has additional admission requirements.  Many programs also require that applicants submit a statement of goals, resume, standardized test scores, or participate in interviews. Please see the individual programs for their specific admissions requirements.
